"During my 13-month Industrial Year at GE Healthcare, I was an Information Security and Risk Management Intern. My main responsibilities included introducing a new IT Security Standard across GE Healthcare (approx. 55,000 employees), undertaking various Risk Assessments on IT Systems and implementing a new Risk-tracking process within the IT Security team. Not only that but I was heavily involved with: an Emerging Technology committee (notably securing funding for 2 Oculus Rift headsets for exploratory development); Intern Recruitment efforts and numerous Women in IT events.
At the end of my 'Internship' I was awarded the GE Healthcare UK IT Intern of the year award. The award message read as below:
'Congratulations on your nomination and selection for intern of the year award. Your focus, dedication, willingness to learn and contributions to the team outcomes are very much appreciated. Well done and thank you.'
As of July 2016, I will be returning to GE Healthcare on their graduate scheme - the 'Information Technology Leadership Programme'. I am extremely excited to be returning, and the programme will allow me to discover 4 new interesting departments within IT, whilst visiting new countries and meeting new people."
